Jaya Prada, a noted actor and politician, is back in the Malayalam film industry after six long years. Her upcoming film is titled Kinnaru and she is currently camping in Thiruvananthapuram for the film’s shooting. On taking up the role, the actor said in an interview, “It's wonderful to be back and that too after a long time. The theme of the film is a social cause about water shortage and is close to the farmers. The subject is a meaningful one.” Kinnaru is being directed by MA Nishad, an actor and director known for making offbeat films.

Jaya Prada was last seen in the Malayalam film Pranayam, which had Mohanlal and Anupam Kher in lead roles. The film, directed by Blessy, was out at the theatres in 2011.

Jaya Prada made her acting debut way back in 1974 with the Telugu flick Bhoomi Kosam and has acted in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi, Kannada, Bengali and English language films. After foraying into politics, she has been very choosy about her films and has only signed movies that offered her meaningful roles. While her last Malayalam film was Pranayam, she was seen in the Kannada movie Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna in 2012 and the Hindi flick Rajjo in 2013.

Director MA Nishad, who is wielding the megaphone for Kinnaru, has directed films like Vairam: Fight for Justice in 2009, Best of Luck in 2010 and Ayudham in 2008.

Jaya Prada will be camping in Kerala for the next few weeks to complete the shooting of the film, say sources.
