International photo exhibition, “The Gibson Through The Lens” visits Hyderabad

Rock and roll lovers in Hyderabad were in for a treat on Thursday as “The Gibson Through The lens, 2014” made its debut in the city.
The international photography exhibition, which celebrates rock photographers of the 60’s and the 70’s made its debut in the country in Mumbai last week.

Music and Photography enthusiasts gathered at the Taj Vivanta in Hyderabad to celebrate the spirit of rock and roll.

There was a collection of 60 vintage and rare photographs of legendary musicians like The Beatles, Chuck berry, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Les Paul and the Grateful Dead to name a few, with their Gibson guitars in the midst of action.

The exhibition which visits one city in every country showcased the works of thirty of the world’s most respected rock photographers including Baron Wolman, Neal Preston, Mick Rock, Bob Guerin, Ross Halfin and the late Jim Marshall. 

The exhibition had a beautiful ambience which transported you back to the 60’s with avid music fans, photographers, top sound engineers and music journalists alike discuss the photographs which reflected the musician’s personality in one still shot.

A stage was set up and a local band called “The Black Sheep” performed onstage and covered famous tracks by The Doors, Pink Floyd and John Denver.

The band was joined by Naveen Thomas of the “Galeej Gurus” in their last song who played a feet sweeping rendition of Eric Clapton’s “Cocaine”

All in all, the event saw a tremendous response and it was a fine evening for art lovers appreciating the aesthetic appeal of the photographs accompanied by fine music.
