Even as the whereabouts of city-based Faiz Masood who left for Syria in September 2013 and allegedly joined Islamic State of Iraq & Syria (ISIS) is unknown, the Intelligence Bureau (IB) is probing who is behind his alleged radicalisation, reported Deccan Chronicle. According to sources in the IB, Masood belongs to a well-to-do family running a mobile business and attended a reputed boys’ convent. There was a change in him before college and he got married early. At the time of leaving, Masood had two kids. After obtaining passport for himself, his wife and father in July 2013, Masood left for Syria in September the same year. Since then, he has not been in touch with his family and they claim they do not know anything about him. “It is important to investigate who and what changed his mindset and why did he become a hardliner, and to find out if there are any ISIS sympathisers in the city?” an officer was quoted as saying by the paper.Even as a section of media, quoting intelligence reports, said he was killed fighting for ISIS, sources in IB claim there is no confirmation on this.
