In a highly insensitive act, a man barged into the ICU of a private hospital where Hanan Hamid, the Kerala student who met with an accident on Monday was admitted, and went live on Facebook. Hanan, who was trolled in July for selling fish to pay for her education, had been admitted to a private hospital in Kodungalloor.

The man, identified as Rajesh Raman, managed to breach the security at the Medical Trust hospital in Ernakulam and forced his way into the ICU unit to make “viral content,” a report in Manorama News said. Standing by her hospital bed, Rajesh went live on Facebook and posed several questions to Hanan to try and get her to speak to him. The live video reportedly went viral but many users condemned his insensitive behaviour.

In the live video, the man could be seen posing questions to Hanan on her injuries. A visibly upset Hanan mumbled a few answers while gesturing him to stop. Reports say that the man had done the live for a popular Facebook page that posts viral videos.

Upon realising that the man had barged in, hospital staff immediately raised an alarm and called the police. So far, no formal complaint has been filed against the man. Though some media reports stated police has initiated an investigation, Siby Tom, the Station House Officer of Ernakulam South police station, told TNM that no action has been taken yet.

Hanan had met with an accident on Monday after the car she was travelling in rammed into an electric post at Kodungallur in the Thrissur district of Kerala. Following the accident, Hanan was immediately rushed to the Modern Multi Specialty Hospital in Thrissur. She was later referred to the hospital in Ernakulam for expert treatment.

An official at the Medical Trust Hospital in Ernakulam told TNM that Hanan, who was brought to the hospital around 11:30 am has a spinal injury and that if a surgery is not done, there are chances that she can suffer from a spine fracture.

Meanwhile, the Kerala government has said that it will ensure Hanan gets good treatment. A statement from the government on Monday night said that the Chief Minister's office and Industries Minister EP Jayarajan had spoken to the hospital and asked them to provide the best treatment and the government will help in whatever way it can.

Hanan Hamid, a graduate student of Chemistry first came into the limelight after she was spotted selling fish in her college uniform by reporters from Mathrubhumi. The Malayalam paper on July 25 published an article detailing her struggles of selling fish while trying to make ends meet. The story soon went viral, with many applauding the girl for her grit and attitude to life. However, many social media users had also trolled Hanan, claiming that she was doing all of this for publicity.

Hanan had last week made news for her decision to donate Rs 1.5 lakh for flood relief in Kerala. Hanan was hailed for donating money that people had sent her to fund her education.
