The News Minute | December 9, 2014 | 01:26 pm ISTEarlier this year, India witnessed one of the most major acquisitions in the media sector when Reliance industries took over Network 18. The year's on its last leg, and one Twitter handle has initiated a conversation on the social media, which could give rise to several speculations. Media Watcher, a Twitter handle run by an anonymous user, on Tuesday posted a tweet claiming that Mukesh Ambani in talks to buy The Indian Express newspaper. The Twitter handle also mentioned that an official announcement confirming the news could be expected shortly. The claim seem to not go down well with Anant Goenka, head of The Indian Express' digital division, son of The Express Group chairman Viveck Goenka.and the two had a sort of online spat, with Media Watcher defending its claim, and Goenka rejecting it. Media Watcher had first tweeted- BIG BREAKING on my TL - Mukesh Ambani all set to acquire Indian Express Newspaper. Announcement shortly.— MediaWatcher (@India_MSM) December 9, 2014Rubbishing the former's claims Anant Goenka responded, Express is not for sale. This tweet is untrue & libellous MT @India_MSM BIG BREAKING on my TL-Mukesh Ambani set to acquire Indian Express— Anant Goenka (@anantgoenka) December 9, 2014 Media Watcher, is an Twitter handle run by an anonymous user, and mostly tweets information regarding the Indian media in general. It then asked Goenka,@anantgoenka why libellous ? Has IE not published many stories on basis of info it gets. I stand by my tweet— MediaWatcher (@India_MSM) December 9, 2014 A seemingly annoyed Goenka then countered, @India_MSM 3/3 ..standing by your tweet, I will wait to read on your TL of an identified individual/co. spokesperson make this announcement— Anant Goenka (@anantgoenka) December 9, 2014Media Watcher, seems to be too sure about its sources, and said if its information turned out to be untrue, it would never tweet again. . @anantgoenka If this News is found to be untrue then i will NEVER Tweet again .and I will tweet the day formal announcement is made— MediaWatcher (@India_MSM) December 9, 2014Snapping back, Goenka reiterated denying any knowledge of these claims made by Media Watcher.  .@India_MSM the express is owned and controlled by my father and that is not changing. You can stop tweeting today, next week or next year— Anant Goenka (@anantgoenka) December 9, 2014
