Indian athlete who participated at the Rio Olympics has been admitted at Bengaluru’s Fortis hospital after she complained of fever, fatigue and body ache.

“Sudha Singh is being treated in isolation until Zika virus is ruled out,” said Dr Sarala, who works at the health centre in Sports Authority of India.

The 30-year-old athlete returned to India on Saturday. Her blood samples are being sent to the National Institute of Virology in Pune for Zika testing as she has just returned from Brazil where there are many cases.

"It might not be a Zika case. But we are not taking chances,” said Dr SR Sarala.

Athletes OP Jaisha, who was Sudha’s roommate in Rio also showed mild symptoms of the infection.

Jaisha on Tuesday told The News Minute that Zika virus had been ruled out in her case, however, she is still in the hospital as she is recovering from a fever.
