It could be a nostalgic moment for many when they see the Bajaj Chetak scooter again on the roads, only this time, it will be called the ‘Chetak Chic Electric’. This is the new all-electric scooter from Bajaj Auto Ltd., to be launched this October 16.

Bajaj is clubbing all its electric mobility products under a new brand Urbanite and this is the event to be held on October 16, according to a Financial Express report.

This will be the first electric powered scooter by the Pune-headquartered company. Rajiv Bajaj, MD of BAL has reportedly said that the company would want to be the Tesla of India as far as the two-wheeler sector is concerned.

The two-wheeler major wants to leverage the nostalgia quotient to the hilt. The invite for the October 16 event says the event itself is titled ‘Hamara Kal’. The company has used this tagline in the past and people of that generation may still remember.

Coming to the Chetak Chic Electric, very little information has been officially shared by the company on its specifications. Based on whatever could be discerned, there is some resemblance to the Vespa models with the round headlamp assembly. You can safely assume that the headlamps will be LED.

The expectation on the price of the Chetak Chic Electric is it would be around Rs 1 lakh. There is no other comparable product in India except the Ather 450. Once the specifications and price are announced, the comparisons can be made.
