Hyundai has revealed the all-new Grand i10 Nios hatchback on Wednesday, which is likely to be the next biggest launch in India by the South-Korean auto giant. Scheduled to be launched on 20th of this month, the bookings for the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios are open at the Hyundai website and dealerships, for a token amount of Rs.11,000.

The name ‘NIOS’ stands for ‘More’ which, according to Hyundai means the new Grand i10's promise of providing more to the buyer in terms of space, features and performance. It depicts the persona of the Athletic Millennial offering More Value, More Features, More Space and More Excitement to live a Happy Millennial Life.

Commenting on the unveiling of 3rd Generation GRAND i10 NIOS, SS Kim, MD & CEO- Hyundai Motor India Ltd said, “Hyundai Motor India has created benchmarks in Indian automobile industry by introducing Cutting-edge technologies and Best-in-segment world-class products for past 21 years. We are glad to present the All New 3rd Generation GRAND i10 NIOS that blends the intrinsic and intuitive beauty of the car with unique design sense constantly changing and fulfilling our customers’ expectations. With the New GRAND i10 NIOS, we have created a new paradigm ensuring to maximise our customers’ emotional values in perfect harmony with the four elements of Hyundai Design Identity: ‘Sensuous Sportiness’, such as Proportion, Architecture, Styling and Technology”.

The Grand i10 Nios is the third-generation model of the popular i10 hatchback and is to be positioned in between the Grand i10 and the i20 models of Hyundai. It will be a more premium offering and will co-exist with the current-gen Hyundai Grand i10 instead of replacing it.

Design-wise, the new Grand i10 Nios somewhat resembles the new Hyundai Santro. It features a dynamic exterior look created by the Hyundai Signature “Cascading Grille” that offers a wider and a stronger appeal to the front while the low and wide proportioned bumper at the rear gives an embracing look with stable and sportier imagery. Compared to the current Grand i10, the upcoming Grand i10 Nios gets redesigned headlamps, new alloy wheels and a revised set of tail lamps on its exterior.

The compact yet spacious interiors sport an ivory-grey colour scheme featuring an all-new dashboard, with an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Features like steering-mounted controls, powered ORVMs, a part-digital instrument cluster and automatic climate control are seen in the first pictures of the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios.

Under the hood, the Grand i10 Nios is expected to get powered by the same 1.2-litre petrol and diesel engines of the Grand i10, but in the BS6-compliant version. If so, the Grand i10 Nios will be the first Hyundai model to come with BS6-compliant engines. The petrol unit delivers 83PS power and 114Nm of torque and the diesel engine is good for 75PS and 190Nm of power and torque outputs. Transmission duties will be handled by 5-speed manual and automatic gearboxes.
