The Hyderabad police is getting a glitzy makeover. They will soon be seen zooming on the streets, on their customized Chinese bikes equipped with the latest technology and features.

This is the first time the state would provide Fab Regal Raptor bikes to police for patrolling purposes.

The bike would be used to chase and intercept culprits. The cruisers are said to be equipped with all the facilities to make the police’s job easier, including a GPS tracker, police lights and a public address system.

The new 320cc bikes would be allocated soon to Hyderabad, Rachakonda and Cyberabad police.

“For now, the police department has decided to get 10 cruiser motorcycles. Each bike costs around Rs 3 lakh and can accelerate to 130 kmph. The Regal Raptor DD 350E-9B bike is powered by a 320cc, two-cylinder, water-cooled, fuel-injected engine. Though the bike weighs 180kg, it is easy on the roads and is comfortable,” says an official from Fabulous and Beyond (FAB) Motors.

The US-based Regal Raptor Motorcycles set up its Indian showroom in Hyderabad-based FAB Motors at an investment of Rs 1,000 crore in 2015, to manufacture a range of cruiser bikes.

It was reported that a team of officials from the police department visited the showroom and shortlisted two models, Regal Raptor Daytona 350 and Regal Raptor DD 350E-9B.

The manufacturer will reportedly be adding special features like loudspeakers on both sides at the front along with red and blue beacons, while the front mirror will sport a logo of the Telangana Police.

Earlier, around 100 Innova cars and 300 bikes were flagged off under the 'Safe and Smart City' initiative by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. The vehicles are equipped with GPS system, tablets, cameras and VHF (very high frequency) sets.
