The Hyderabad police arrested a choreographer on Saturday for allegedly raping a 19-year-old from Kolkata, who had visited the city in February.

The police arrested Preeth Shergill, and said that three other accomplices were absconding, including one Pinky Roy.

The victim, reported to be a B Com student, in her complaint, said that she had met Pinky Roy on the flight to Hyderabad, and later shared a cab with her, to reach her hotel.

The Times of India reported that the victim told Pinky her plans to explore the city, following which the latter offered to take her around with a friend, in his car.

The duo exchanged numbers, and Pinky called up Preeth, who was a resident of Maredpally, to take the two women around on February 15.

After Preeth picked up both the women and travelled some distance, the police say that Pinky got down citing an emergency, after Preeth gave her a ‘signal’.

Following this, Preeth told the victim that they would head to his house, and visit tourist spots later in the day.

"He asked her to join him for coffee at home. When she felt drowsy after gulping the coffee laced with sedative, the choreographer raped her. He confined her in a room and snatched her wallet and gold rings. The next day, Shergill's driver-cum-maid Sultan also sexually assaulted the woman. The same evening, two of the choreographer's friends came to meet him. One of them also violated the woman," (sic). Marredpally Inspector Umamaheshwar Rao told The Hindu.

The accused also allegedly took nude photos and videos of the victim.

However, the police said that the victim managed to write a message for help on a tissue paper, and threw it into the neighbour's balcony on February 19, following which the accused let her go and fled.

The woman then approached the police and filed a complaint.

According to reports, a case has been booked under sections of the IPC dealing with causing hurt, wrongful confinement, rape, criminal intimidation and robbery, among others.

The police have assured that the other accused would be caught soon.
