A 27-year-old businessman from Secunderabad has lodged a complaint against an Uber cab driver, with the Begumpet police, alleging that the driver assaulted him and misbehaved with his female friend.

Abhinav Sunkara, who is reported to run an advertising and branding firm in Secunderabad, booked a cab at around 3 pm on Wednesday to travel from Secunderabad towards Film Nagar.

According to him, the cab driver that Uber sent, did not know directions to the place and stopped halfway there and asked them to get down. When the duo refused to pay him, the argument heated up and the driver attacked them.

Abhinav has also put up a Facebook post since, detailing the incident.

"When we tried giving him directions, he got agitated and spoke very disrespectfully towards my friend and I. He then told her to be quiet very rudely and demanded we get off the car. When I got off the car, he got off as well and struck me in the face twice, in self defense I hit him and pushed him away, but fell to the ground. He then proceeded to remove the wrench from his car to hit me, luckily people stopped him....I'm hoping Uber will take very strict action against the driver," he wrote.

Following this, Abhinav lodged a complaint with the police.

Uber also replied to his Facebook post and said "Our sincere apologies once again for this unfortunate experience....We want to reassure you that our team immediately suspended the driver partner involved upon receiving your notification and has initiated a thorough investigation....Rest assured, we will cooperate with the police fully and provide all relevant information to assist an official investigation"

On Thursday morning, Begumpet police reportedly called the alleged offender and asked him to appear at the police station for enquiry. Following this, he switched off his phone.

Here's Abhinav's Facebook post.
