The Hyderabad High Court on Monday refused to hear the case on the alleged nexus around recently killed Naxalite-turned-gangster Nayeemuddin on an urgent basis, or order a CBI probe on it.

A division bench  comprising of Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice U Durga Prasad Rao made the observation while hearing a PIL filed by CPI leader K Narayana, reported The New Indian Express.

The division bench said that the case will be heard according to its serial number and a decision on transferring the case to the CBI will be taken after hearing all the respondents in the case as well as the CBI.

Narayana in his affidavit had asked the court to take up the matter at the earliest on the grounds of a larger public interest.

The case is currently being investigated by a special investigation team appointed by the Telangana government, which has registered more than 60 cases and arrested close to 100 people for alleged connections with Nayeem.

Nayeem was killed in the Shadnagar Millenium Township in Mahbubnagar, Telangana during an encounter with police on August 8.

The timing of the encounter has been the subject of much speculation, with questions and theories raised about the gangster’s death in the encounter after he had escaped from police custody on more than ten occasions.
