Huawei has followed its earlier launch of its Huawei Y9 in the Indian market with the Huawei Y9 Prime launched yesterday. The phone’s specs and features have been given a slight bump in this sequel with the display size of 6.59inches (6.5inches in the Y9). It’s a full HD+ LCD Full View display with the bezels being reduced to the bare minimum. The screen to body ratio is 91%. The highlight of this new phone Huawei Y9 Prime is that the front selfie camera has been made into a popup one.

The processor fitted on this phone is the in-house Kirin 710F chipset which is an octa core SoC clocking a speed of 2.2GHz. The RAM support comes with 4GB and internal storage of 128GB. There is the provision for inserting a microSD card and to lift the storage by another 512GB. The Android Pie version 9 OS with the EMUI 9.0 riding on it as the UI skin, will operate the phone.

The camera section is another area where the Huawei Y9 Prime scores higher over its predecessor with a triple sensor configuration 16MP+8MP+2MP, the last two doing the ultra-wide angle and depth sensor duties. As mentioned, the front camera hosting a 16MP sensor has been made into a popup one with the unit emerging from one side on top.

There’s a rear mounted fingerprint sensor and the full suite of onboard sensors to complement it. The connectivity options too are fully loaded in this budget segment phone.

There is a 4,000mAh battery under the hood. It’s not clear if there is a fast charging feature provided as well. The phone is being released in two colours, Emerald Green and Sapphire Blue.

Huawei has priced this Huawei Y9 Prime in the Indian market at Rs 15,990. Huawei plans to launch the device online first through Amazon where it will start selling from August 7. Look for launch time offers, among them free Huawei Sports BT headphones. Offline availability may follow as well.
