Perhaps the whole point of embarrassing someone is to put them in a spot where you think they will be uncomfortable. But if you miscalculate, here’s what can happen to you.

A man who tried to do put activist Kavita Krishnan in a fix was in for a surprise when both she and her mother turning the tables on him with replies about “free sex” in a deadpan, matter-of-fact way.

On Sunday afternoon, Polit Bureau Member of the Communist Party of India (ML) and Secretary of All India Progressive Women’s Association (APIWA) Kavita posted a screenshots of what transpired on her Facebook wall with the status:

“My mum's kickass reply to trolls asking if my mother had 'free sex'. With ma and behen of the fantastic kind I have got, the trolls find it so ineffectual and frustrating to give ma behen ki gaali. This happened on this post about my article on the JNU 'dossier'”

The Spoilt Modern Indian Woman put up a Facebook post on April 28 about free sex and why a lot of people have so much trouble with it. The text of the post was accompanied by an image and quote by Kavita on free sex. But on May 11 a man commented on thread, telling Kavitha (presumably), “ask your mother/daughter whether she had "free sex””

There were some abusive replies to this man’s comments, but on Sunday, Kavita replied to the man: “Er, yes, my mother did. Hopefully so did yours. Because if the woman is not free, it is not sex but rape. Get it.”

A couple of comments down, Kavita’s mother Lakshmi Krishnan shut him down more elaborately. She said:

“Hi GM Das! I am Kavita's mother. Of course I had free sex. I should jolly well hope so! As and when I wanted, with the person I wanted. And I fight for every woman and man to have sex according to their consent. Never unfree, never forced.”
