A 28-year-old woman was found dead in her apartment in Hyderabad on Monday under mysterious circumstances, hours after she celebrated her eighth wedding anniversary.
The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of the Malkajgiri police, and the woman's body was found on the premises of Green Gold Apartments.
The police said that the woman, identified as M Nagalakshmi, was staying on the fourth floor with her husband, Ramesh, and six-year-old daughter.
According to reports, the couple celebrated their wedding anniversary on Sunday and went to bed as usual.
However, when Ramesh woke up in the early hours of the morning, he found his wife missing. The police also said that the door was bolted from outside.
After alerting the neighbours, Ramesh began searching for Nagalakshmi, until the watchman found her body on the ground floor. The cause of death is yet to be established and no suicide note was recovered from the crime scene.
“They went out and returned home late at night. Ramesh and his daughter slept early, but Nagalakshmi was watching videos on YouTube. We do not know what went wrong in between. She was found dead around 4 am on Monday,” Malkajgiri Sub-Inspector Manmadha Kumar was quoted as saying.
“She was very normal on Sunday, but what forced her to take such an extreme step, is to be probed. Based on her father Achaiah’s complaint, a case under section 174 CrPC has been registered. Based on the autopsy report and other evidence, the investigation will proceed.” the SI added.
The police said that the suspicious death would be probed and all angles would be looked into.
Just earlier this week, an MBA student hanged herself during a video call with her friend at a hostel in Hyderabad, in the city's Kompally area.
According to the police, Hanisha Chowdhary resorted to the extreme step while talking to her friend Dakshit Patel. The police said that the duo were in a relationship. Chowdhary was shifted to a hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.
