Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan wrote to actor Kamal Haasan congratulating him for receiving the Chevalier award from the French government.
In a statement to the media, Pinrayi Vijayan said, “His award has dignified Indian cinema in the world. By dedicating this award to his well-wishers he showed his humbleness. I congratulate him on behalf of all Keralites.”
On Sunday, Kamal Haasan was awarded the Chevalier de L’Ordres Arts et Lettres, conferred by the French government. In an audio message, Kamal Haasan dedicated the award to all his admirers and audience.
The award is presented to recognise eminent artists and writers, as well as people who have contributed significantly to furthering the arts in France and throughout the world.
Other Indian recipients of the award include Tamil actor Sivaji Ganesan, Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Nandita Das and Shah Rukh Khan.
