Are you one of the many, MANY fans who were left in a lurch when Coldplay tickets were sold out before you could say ‘Fix You’ (or let’s be real, they were just too expensive)?

Well, here’s a second chance for you. Global Citizen, which is organizing the event in Mumbai on November 19, has partnered with Ketto, a crowdfunding platform, and is giving away 1000 tickets – for free! All you have to do is raise funds for the Global Citizen’s partner NGOs.

The three NGOs are WaterAid India, Miracle Foundation and Oxfam India. The causes they are supported are Clean water, sanitation and hygiene; quality education and gender equality.

Ketto will introduce fundraising activities for the above causes with the following goals:

1st Phase | Rs. 50,000 - the first 125 people get 2 x tickets
2nd Phase | Rs. 75,000 - the first 125 people get 2 x tickets
3rd Phase | Rs. 90,000 - the first 125 people get 2 x tickets
4th Phase | Rs. 1,00,000 - the first 125 people get 2 x tickets

This is a part of the 10,000 tickets Global Citizen had decided to give away based on the points people earn by participating in Action Journeys (involves tweeting, sending emails and signing petitions for social emancipation projects). 80% of these 10,000 tickets will still go to them.

Ketto CEO and cofounder Varun Sheth said that he was honoured to be associated with Global Citizen’s first festival in India. “I think it’s a brilliant way to activate the youth of the country in driving change by giving them a platform to become new-age digital social volunteers. They don’t just get to make a difference by tackling India’s biggest problems, but also have fun in doing it,” he added.

Emphasizing on the potential of the digital generation, Global Citizen India spokesperson Bhavya Bishnoi said: “Social and digital media is the future and we strongly believe in the power of our 800 million young people to push for positive change through these channels under the Global Citizen movement.”

“All the money pledged will go directly to the selected project. Ketto will also be waiving off its fee so that all non-profits associated with the Global Citizen movement receive maximum support in the form of funds raised through this activity,” Ketto said in a press release.

Participants of these fundraising activities will receive updates about where they stand in the challenge to secure entry into the festival, which has a star-studded line up like Jay Z, Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and AR Rahman among others.
