One of India’s most successful Software as a Service (SaaS) startups Freshdesk has rebranded itself as Freshworks. The idea is to create a new umbrella brand that will house all of the company’s offerings.

The company said in a statement that the new umbrella brand will bring together its growing suite of business software. Since its launch, Freshdesk has been introducing new products for IT Service Management (ITSM), customer relationship management (CRM) and cloud-based call centers.

The new Umbrella brand brings product clarity and paves way for growth of the company with a diverse business software suite.

"In 2010, we started Freshdesk as a ‘fresh helpdesk’ with a dream to make a dent in the world of customer support. While Freshdesk continued to grow exponentially, as a company, we moved beyond customer service by offering innovative products in the ITSM and CRM domains. As we expand our vision and build more exciting products, we felt that this was the right time to create a new brand that would allow us to tell our multi-product story better,” said Girish Mathrubootham, CEO and Founder of Freshworks.

Currently Freshworks has four different services, Freshdesk, which helps organisations collaborate and support their customers through email, phone, forums, etc; Freshservice, which is a cloud-based service desk and ITSM solution; Freshsales, which is a CRM solution for sales teams handling high-velocity leads and Freshcaller, a fully functional call center on the cloud.

“We realized that we had gotten much bigger than what we started out with Freshdesk and we were much more than a company that made helpdesk software. While we were happy to find more success, it became clear that our branding was starting to confuse customers. Some of our customers who stopped by to say hello to us at our Freshservice booth at an ITSM event asked us if we compete with Freshdesk, and within a few months of launching Freshsales, we found that people were searching for “Freshdesk CRM” more than Freshsales directly,” Girish said in a blogpost.

With Freshdesk being the name of its product and the company name as well, it makes more sense for the company to have an umbrella brand with various products being introduce. This will help the company differentiate its products better.

The company says that it aims to help companies engage and communicate with their customers and employees better with business software that is easy-to-use, feature-packed and accessible to businesses of all sizes.

Launched six years ago, Freshworks has its presence in over 100,000 companies across 145 countries with five offices in Chennai, San Bruno, London, Sydney and Berlin.

Freshdesk has so far raised over $150 million from investors like Tiger Global Management and Google Capital.
