The News Minute | October 27, 2014 | 6.42 pm ISTFour people have been arrested by Bangalore police, for allegedly assaulting a couple from Nagaland and their friend in the city on Saturday. The couple has been residing in Bangalore for 13 years and the man works in a software company. The couple and their friend were assaulted in Bangalore on Saturday, and had to seek the assistance of senior police officials to get the complaint registered. Police have arrested Ratan, Mahesh, Harish, Ananth on charges of assault.According to a Deccan Herald report on Sunday the couple had to go to two police stations – Soldevanahalli and Doddaballapur – on Saturday but both refused to take their complaint. On Sunday,it was only after they contacted the nodal officer appointed to look after issues faces by people from the north-east, V S D’Souza, that they were directed to the Doddabelavangal police station, where the FIR was registered.The couple and their friend had to stop in Hesarghatta near the Nrityagram after they noticed one of the tyres of their car was punctured. Requesting anonymity, the couple told Deccan Herald: There were two men seated in the rear and two in the front. The ones at the back started racially abusing us, saying ‘you are not from India, what the hell are you doing here? Why are you driving here?’"They called us NRIs. Then, they started pushing me. It was drizzling and my wife was holding an umbrella as we replaced the tyre. They snatched the umbrella and started hitting me with it. We tried to reason with them, but in vain. They punched me on my chest. When my wife tried to intervene, she was slapped by one, and she started to scream."Soon after this, they left, and the couple and their friend approached the police.
