Chevella Congress MP candidate Konda Vishweshwar, who lost in the elections by a little 14,000 votes, alleged on Friday that the all of TRS, including its president K Chandrasekhar Rao and working president KT Rama Rao, tried to end his career.

Speaking at Gandhi Bhavan, Vishweshwar said, “Similar to how the TRS focussed entirely on Revanth Reddy in the Assembly elections, this time the entire government machinery, CM and his son were behind me,” he said.

He added, “CM KCR often used to say that there won’t be murders in politics but suicides. They tried to kill me politically. But, they too suffered a blow they suffered losses in their strongholds Karimnagar, Nizamabad and their votes reduced in KCR’s own constituency.”

Vishweshwar alleged that the TRS created many hurdles during his campaign. “They tied my hands and legs and won the elections,” he said.

He alleged that the police filed false cases against his supporters to deter his campaign. However, the former MP claimed a moral victory. “Though I lost in Chevella due to money, liquor and police force used by the ruling TRS, I consider it a moral victory for me. I will continue to work for the cause of people of Chevella,” he said. Vishweshwar’s vote share increased substantially in rural constituencies this election.

Vishweshwar Reddy, who was elected as an MP on a TRS ticket in 2014, quit the party just days before the Telangana Assembly elections last year and joined the Congress, allegedly due to differences with KCR and KTR. Reportedly, KCR was insecure over the growth of Visweshwar that he may take away the focus from his son KTR.
