Vadodara’s fire department personnel had an unusual and unpredictable obstacle to rescuing people stranded by the flooding: crocodiles.

The Times of India reported that when the fire personnel went to a particular residential colony in the city on tuesday, they realised they were being followed by crocodiles.

The report quoted fire personnel as saying that their difficulties were compounded by the presence of the crocodiles: “When we were rescuing people from the colony, I spotted a crocodile swimming near our boat. It was risky as we had to ensure that people don't step into the water. Also, we couldn't tell people about the crocodiles as they would have panicked and put lives of others in the lifeboat at risk.”
