The Tamil Nadu State Bar council on Tuesday debarred five lawyers from practicing in any court and tribunal after they were named in the murder case of a lawyer on the Egmore magistrate court campus.

The council has come out with its decision three weeks after the lawyer was murdered. The five facing prohibitory orders are: A Michael, K Rajesh, A Charles, R Natarajan and C P Naresh Kumar.

Earlier, elections to the Bar association was held on January 30, 2015 and results were declared the same evening following which a scuffle broke out between two factions of advocates and K Stalin, a practicing lawyer, was killed in the attack.

This shocking incident has resulted in the debarring of these lawyers and they will not be permitted to appear either in person or through others before any court or tribunal till the disciplinary proceedings are completed.

The News Minute had written an elaborate story on how lawyers in the Egmore magistrate court has become the hotbed of lawlessness and lawyers turned mobsters run a mafia targeting legal clients.
