In 1966, Dr. KCG Verghese, opened an engineering training centre in Chennai to pass on his passion for automobiles to students. Today, 50 years since, that institution has grown into the mammoth Hindustan Group of Institutions, and they opened their third international school at Padur near Chennai on Monday.

The 'Hindustan International School' was inaugurated by Rev. Dr. Philipose Mar Chrysostom, Mar, Thoma Valiya Metropolitan Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church in the presence of Dr. Elizabeth Verghese, Chairperson, Hindustan Group of Institutions, Dr. Anand Jacob Verghese, Director & CEO, Hindustan Group and Mr. Ashok Verghese, Director Hindustan University.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Elizabeth Verghese said that the Group has ventured into schooling because it wanted to reach out to students at an early age to instill discipline and a good education. “By the time they reach college, it becomes late for some of them,” she said, adding that their school will endeavor to prepare students for more meaningful higher education.

“With this inauguration, Hindustan International School, Padur will reiterate its commitment to providing an educational environment that promotes intellectual and personal growth through a comprehensive education system which fosters 21st century skills along with character development in its students and prepares them for a life beyond high school,” a press release from the Group stated.

Set up in an area of over 5 acres, the campus claims to be eco-friendly with modern educational and sporting facilities, such as horse riding and archery. Currently the school admits students from LKG to 6th Grade and offers both Cambridge/CBSE Curriculum.

“The campus has been designed to facilitate finest educational services and to enhance all round development of Children.Reflecting the philosophy of its Founder, "To Make every Child a Success," the school building maintains international standards of safety, convenience and amenities for today's learners,” the Group statement said.
