The News Minute | October 16, 2014 | 12:40 pm IST  19 people have been arrested for assaulting Rashmi V Mahesh, an IAS officer and Director-General of the Administrative Training Institute (ATI) in Mysore on Wednesday. The attackers are reportedly former contract employees of the institute.  The officer was attacked in the institute premises after the body of the one of the employees of the institute, which was found earlier in the day in the premises, was brought back after post-mortem.  The employee, ATI’s 53-year-old mess manager Venkatesh, is said to have committed suicide and the attackers alleged that he took the drastic step after being harassed by Rashmi Mahesh. A complaint in connection to the assault has been lodged with the police. The IAS officer told The Hindu that “It was a pre-meditated assault” on her for demanding a CBI inquiry into some irregularities committed in the institute before she took over as Director-General.  Tv9 Kannada uploaded a video on YouTube reporting on the incident.
