A fake Siddha was arrested in Kannur for abandoning a two-day old girl child on the road. Police said that Latheef, the suspect, had been sexually abusing women in the name of Siddha treatment.

Last Monday(June 13th), locals found a new born baby abandoned near the Azhikode Light House.

“We conducted an inquiry, and from the hospital we got details about the infant’s mother. She was Latheef's patient and he was abusing her  in the name of treatment,” Azhikode Sub Inspector Sreejith told The News Minute.

The infant’s mother had approached Latheef for asthma treatment. “He convinced her that sex was also a part of the treatment and coerced her into the same. Later when she got pregnant, her family asked him to take the baby,” the officer said.

Latheef who took the baby later abandoned her on the roadside. The police have filed a case under section 307 of the Indian Penal Code against Latheef.
