The advent of 2016 was joyous for one special reason: it was to bring to us the sequel to 2015's biggest blockbuster Baahubali. All of us believe that when the sequel is released, all will be answered, including the several-hundred-crore question: Why did Katappa kill Baahubali?

But you don't even have to wait till then, dear TNM readers.

In an exclusive interview to The News Minute, director SS Rajamouli has revealed why Amarendra Baahubali was slain at the hands of the man who vowed to protect the king.

Rajamouli has told The News Minute that things go sour between Baahubali and Bhallaladeva because of their fight over Devasena, the role played by Anushka.

Over and above, Bhalla loses everything - the throne, the woman and even his own mother Sivagami's support - to Baahubali.

But then the father-son duo of Bhallaladeva and Bajjaladeva plot to turn Sivagami against Baahubali. When they are able to do it, war breaks out with another kingdom, and it is at that juncture that Sivagami ordered Katappa to kill Baahubali on the war fields.

This is an elaborate theory, yes, and we are excited that Rajamouli shared it with us first. We will also be excited if you get carried away with all the fake nonsense above, because, it's April Fools Day. If not, too bad, we had to try.
