A production assistant at Doordarshan has alleged that one of her colleagues has sexually harassed her and her complaints to higher authorities did not result in any action.

According to a report in The Times of India, the complainant has accused an assistant director general in the public broadcaster of making physical advances, calling her to his office after work hours, making obscene comments in her presence.

The report said that the woman had complained to Director General Vijaylaxmi Chhabra, who allegedly took no action. Chhabra did not respond to queries from the newspaper.

The man against whom the allegations have been made was dismissive and claimed that the woman had accused him of sexual harassment as an “afterthought” because she was miffed that a documentary she had worked on had not been recommended for the national film awards.

The complainant had worked on a documentary about the Muzaffarnagar riots. She had approached the Tilak Marg police station with her complaint, but no case has been registered yet.
