With the plagiarism row between director AR Murugadoss and Varun Rajendran coming to an end, actor Vijay's Sarkar is gearing up for Deepavali release on November 6. With the team and fans promoting the film,  the Tamil Nadu People’s Forum for Tobacco Control has issued a strict warning to the fans of the actor against using the smoking picture in the banners and posters.

It is also reported by Indiaglitz that Panneerselvam, the President of the Theatre Owners Federation, has issued a circular to all the theatres screening the movie not to display banners or posters that have Vijay smoking in accordance with the government order.

The film's first look and title were revealed on the occasion of Vijay's birthday this year, and one of the posters had the actor smoking a cigarette. Following this, a case was registered by the TNPFTC in the Madras High Court. Immediately the Health and Family Welfare Department sent a legal notice to Vijay, director AR Murugadoss and Sun Pictures for violating the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act.

Meanwhile, there are also reports that the film will have its first show only by 8 am on its release day, although this isn't definite as yet. The government officials have made it clear that the film should have 5 shows on Deepavali day and at government prescribed ticket rates.

Sarkar is directed by AR Murugadoss and bankrolled by Kalanidhi Maran under his banner Sun Pictures. Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman is scoring music with lyricist Vivek penning the lyrics, Girish Gangadharan wielding the camera and A Sreekar Prasad editing it. AR Murugadoss and Vijay are teaming up for the third time after the success of Thuppaki and Kaththi and fans are hopeful that the duo will score a hat-trick at the box office with Sarkar.

Sarkar has two heroines – Keerthy Suresh and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar – in the star cast. Those in the supporting roles include Arjun Sarja, Prem Kumar, Yogi Babu, Radha Ravi, and Pala. Karuppiah.
