Shiva Rajkumar’s next film, Rustum, is having a positive buzz around it right from the day it was announced. The film, directed by Ravi Varma, is currently in pre-production and will go on floors soon.

According to latest reports, the film’s director is keen on roping in a top Bollywood actor to play the baddie in Rustum and he is on the verge of finalizing the star cast. From what we hear from sources, actors Anil Kapoor, Suniel Shetty and Manoj Bajpai are the top contenders to bag the role, and it needs to be seen who would eventually go on to get the role.

All details pertaining to that will be revealed shortly, we hear. On Shiva Rajkumar’s role in the film, we hear that he will be playing a cop. It has been years since the star had donned such a role and his fans are excited to know what is in store for them this time around.

Ravi Varma, a well-known stunt choreographer in the southern film circuit and Bollywood as well, is making his directorial debut with Rustum. The film is being bankrolled under the banner Jayanna Combines and will go on to the floors on the 24th of this month. Reports are that Ravi Varma had narrated the storyline to the star nearly two years ago and finally managed to impress the star to sign on the dotted lines.

Shivanna, who began this year with Tagaru directed by Duniya Soori, has two more films lined up for release in quick succession. While The Villain is currently in post-production, his Kavacha is also gearing up for release.

Interestingly, in The Villain, which is directed by Prem, Shiva Rajkumar is sharing the screen space with Kiccha Sudeep for the first time in his career. The film also stars Amy Jackson and Mithun Chakraborty in pivotal roles. Made on a high budget, The Villain is bankrolled by CR Manohar under his banner Tanvi - Shanvi Films.
