Gymnast Dipa Karmakar’s entry into the Rio Olympics was historic on many levels.

Karmakar became the first Indian gymnast to qualify for the Olympics. She also entered the vault finals in Rio before finishing fourth.

She will be awarded the Khel Ratna, the country’s highest sporting honour, for her outstanding achievements.

And it won’t come as a surprise if a biopic were to be made on her life.

Karmakar, when asked who she would want to portray her role if her biopic was made, laughed and told The Times of India, "Oh, anybody who can do the Produnova well."

"My favourite actress is Katrina Kaif though. But if they decide to make a film on me, whoever they choose, it would be an honour for me to see my story on the big screen," she added.

Karmakar's much vaunted Produnova vault is also sometimes referred to as the '"Vault of Death".

It is a double-front somersault which has the highest degree of difficulty for a women's vault.

At the age of 20, Dipa became the first woman gymnast from India to win a Commonwealth medal. In the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, she bagged a bronze medal. With that feat, she also became the third woman in history of gymnastics to successfully land the Produnova vault. Only five athletes in total have successfully completed the Produnova.

However, Dipa says she will continue performing the Produnova despite the dangers that are associated with the vault.

"I will continue doing the Produnova, not thinking of any other vault at the moment. I don't think it's a death vault, if we practice everything becomes easy, my coach made me practice," Dipa told PTI on her return from Rio.

"Everything is risky. If you practice properly everything becomes easy. I made Dipa practice the vault a lot and thus the Produnova has become easy for her," Dipa's coach Bisweshwar Nandi added.

Recalling her experience at the finals, Dipa also spoke about people cheered for her because of the Produnova.

"I became famous for my vault in the Olympics some called me 'Produnova Girl' others called me 'Dipa Produnova', a lot of people were cheering for me in the finals. I felt I made the right decision by choosing this vault."
