Malayalam actor Tovino Thomas is basking in glory over how his career is taking shape. And the star’s association with actor-producer Dhanush has worked well to his advantage as he will be playing the antagonist in the sequel to the Dhanush starrer Maari.
Yes, Tovino Thomas has been signed up to play the baddie in Dhanush’s upcoming film Maari 2. The film is being helmed by Balaji Mohan as the director. This project was supposed to go on to the floors much earlier but was postponed after Dhanush got busy with a slew of films including his directorial debut Power Paandi.
On signing the deal to star in Maari 2, Tovino had said, “Extremely excited to be part of Maari 2. This is my third association with Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films. I’m really looking forward to being part of this project.” It may be mentioned that Dhanush is producing two of Tovino’s Malayalam films, Tharangam and Maradona. While Tharanagam is yet to commence, Maradona is in the pre-production stage.
Tovino’s acting debut was with the short film Grisaillein in 2011 and since then there was no looking back for him. He made his debut with ABCD and went on to play pivotal roles in Ennu Ninte Moideen, Ezra, Oru Mexican Aparatha and Godha. He currently has Abi & Anu, a bilingual in Tamil and Telugu which will mark his debut in the Tamil film industry. Other than this, he has Mayanadhi, Tick Tock, Luka, Oru Bhayangara Kamukan and the multi-lingual film Hano 3D.
On the other hand, Maari, one of the biggest hits in Dhanush’s career has been directed by Balaji Mohan with Kajal Agarwal playing the female lead. Anirudh Ravichander has composed music for this film.
