Dhanush clears the air on rumours surrounding postponement of ‘VIP 2’

Dhanush’s fans were disappointed after it was revealed that his Velai Illa Pattadhari 2 (VIP 2) will not be released on July 28 as planned initially. While fans were left disappointed, the rumour mongers had a good time coming out with various speculations about the postponement. Putting an end to all the rumours, Dhanush has clarified that the release date was put off as there are plans to release VIP 2 not only in Tamil but in Telugu and Hindi as well. As the team is planning a simultaneous release in all the three languages, the release date had to be re-scheduled, he  clarified.

Incidentally, Dhanush is also the co-producer of the film and has been vigorously promoting it. Produced jointly by Dhanush and Kalaipuli S Dhanu under their respective banners Wunderbar Films and V Creations, the film has the former playing the lead role. Also included in the star cast are Amala Paul and Kajol along with Samuthirakani, Saranya Ponvannan, Ritu Varma and Vivek.

VIP 2 is the sequel to the cult hit Velai Illa Pattadhari that was released in 2014. The film was directed by cinematographer-turned-director Velraj. Interestingly, VIP 2 has been directed by Dhanush’s sister-in-law Soundarya Rajinikanth. Music for the film has been scored by Sean Rolden but some background score from the prequel that was scored by Anirudh has also been retained. While Sameer Thahir has wielded the camera for this film, GK Prasanna is the editor.

Dhanush’s fans were expecting this film to release on July 28 as it would coincide with his birthday celebrations but they need to wait for some more days now. Well, sources close to the film unit opine that the wait would be well worth it! 

The release date, which may be during the first half of August, is expected to be announced soon.
