Devi 2, the sequel to the hit horror comedy Devi that released in the year 2016 will not release on May 1 as announced earlier. The horror comedy was in the summer release race this year, but reports are that the filmmakers decided to put off the release by a few more weeks in order to get the requisite number of theatres. According to recent reports, it may be released on May 31 but we need to wait for an official word on it. The movie recently cleared the censor with a ‘U’ certificate.

Devi was also simultaneously released in Telugu and Hindi, titled Abhinetri and Tutak Tutak Tutiya respectively and went on to earn good box office collections. Following the film’s success at the box office and good reviews, the filmmakers decided on the sequel. Directed by A. L. Vijay, the film had Tamannaah and Prabhu Deva as the lead pair, with Sonu Sood, Murali Sharma, RJ Balaji, Saptagiri, and Rajiv Thakur in supporting roles. While AL Vijay and Paul Aaron had written the story, the screenplay for the film was penned by A. L. Vijay, Satya and Chintan Gandhi.

Devi 2 is also directed by AL Vijay and has Tammannah, Prabhu Deva, Dimple Hayati and Nanditha Shwetha in the lead roles. Kovai Sarala and RJ Balaji are also included in the star cast. The film was widely shot in the picturesque locations of Mauritius. Sam CS has composed music for this venture with Ayananka Bose cranking the camera and Anthony editing it. AL Vijay has penned the story for the sequel with veteran writer Crazy Mohan in charge of the dialogues. The film is bankrolled by K. Ganesh and R. Ravindran under the banner GV Films and Trident Arts.
