The security cover of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has been intensified after an RSS leader announced a bounty of Rs 1 crore 'on his head'.

Four more armed commandos have been added to the security team of the CM, taking the total count to ten.

The State Security Review Committee decided to tighten the security even though RSS leader Kundan Chandravat retracted the statement of giving Rs 1 crore to the person who killed Vijayan.

Earlier too, the committee had recommended that the security cover of the CM be beefed up, but Vijayan didn't accept it. Now, against the backdrop of the death threat, he gave a green signal for the suggestion, reports The New Indian Express.

The Intelligence Wing of the State police had also recommended that the security cover be intensified.

Chandravat, an RSS pramukh of Madhya Pradesh, at a rally in Ujjain on Thursday had said that he would even sell his property to give Rs one crore for killing the Kerala CM.

"It’s a disgrace that he is the Chief Minister of Kerala. I will write my full property in the name of the person who cuts his head and brings it to me,” he said.

The statement caused wide-spread protest across the country and the BJP general secretary AN Radhakrishnan was quick to make the state unit's stand clear, saying that killing people was not the ideology of the BJP.
The RSS expelled him following the statement.

It was the speech of Vijayan, at a rally of communal harmony in Mangaluru, in which he said that the RSS has a history of betraying the nation, that irked Chandravat.
