When it comes to political sycophancy,it seems Congress party-men can beat everyone else hollow. A granite businessman from Ramanagara in Karnataka cut the little finger on his left hand and dropped it in the hundi in Tirupati temple as a mark of thanksgiving after Congress President and Vice-President, Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, were granted bail in the National Herald case in December, The Times of India reported.

35-year-old Induvalu Suresh had chopped off his finger on December 25. "The party was worried when Sonia and Rahul were summoned by the court. I took a vow that if they were granted bail, I would offer my finger to God," he told TOI.

Stating that he had not informed his family when he left for Tirupati with a friend, Suresh further said, "I wrapped the finger in a Rs 1,000 note with a letter thanking God for granting bail to Sonia and Rahul and dropped it in the hundi. I did not feel the pain when I cut off my finger. Later, I went to a nearby hospital and told the doctor I had lost my finger while repairing the AC compressor of my car."

Housing minister MH Ambareesh was shocked when he came to know about the incident and asked Suresh to meet him at his residence in Bengaluru on Saturday.

The minister reportedly had told Suresh, "You are Kaliyug's Ekalavya, but we don't want sycophancy of pain."
