Kannada star Chiranjeevi Sarja has three films – Khaki, Ranam and Jugari Cross – in different stages of production. And now we hear that he has inked a deal to star in a new film. Debutant Mahesh Chaitanya will be wielding the megaphone for this commercial entertainer and it will be bankrolled by TR Chandrashekar under his banner Crystal Park Cinemas.

Meanwhile Chiranjeevi is busy with Khaki, which comes with the tagline: The Power of Common Man, indicating that it will deliver a social awareness message for the audience. Reports have confirmed that the actor will be playing a cable operator in the film.

Wielding the megaphone for Khaki is director Naveen Reddy, who is making his debut with this movie. The film will be bankrolled by Tharun Shivappa under the banner Tharun Talkies. The technical crew of Khaki includes Ritvik to compose music and Balu to crank the camera. Vidhyadhar has scripted the film.

The muhurat of Jugari Cross, directed by TS Nagabharana, happened in February this year. However, the film’s producer Kaddipudi Chandru had clarified recently that TS Nagabharana is not a part of the project anymore and that the team is looking for someone else to take up the mantle of director due to budgetary issues.

Ranam, directed by V Samudra, has Chiranjeevi sharing screen space with Chetan Kumar of Aa Dinagalu fame. It is interesting to note that Chetan Kumar’s role is reportedly bordered on the lines of revolutionary leader Che Guevara and that Chiranjeevi Sarja will be seen playing an encounter specialist.

Chiranjeevi’s last outing was Singha, which was directed by Vijay Kiran and produced by Uday Mehta, and starred Aditi Prabhudeva as the female lead. Chiranjeevi had also starred in Amma I Love You, which was the Kannada remake of the hit Tamil movie Pichaikaran, starring Vijay Anthony.
