There were reports of Malayalam actor Chemban Vinod making it to the cast of the upcoming Rajinikanth starrer Darbar. But the actor has clarified that he is not part of the project. The rumours began soon after he shared a fan-made poster of the film. Realising that the poster had given rise to the rumours, the actor not only deleted it from his Facebook page but also clarified that he is not part of Darbar.

Chemban revealed it when The Cue called him about it. He said, “Brother, I don't know where this news came from. Several people have called me about it. I had shared a fan-made poster of Darbar some days ago. I am also waiting for this Rajini film. Realising that it is a fan-made poster, I had later deleted it from Facebook. This is the only connection I have with the film. No one has yet offered me a role in the film. But I am more than willing to join if the call comes. Anyway I am going to the St George church and pray that this news becomes true.”

Darbar is a Tamil action film that is written and directed by AR Murugadoss, with Rajinikanth and Nayanthara in the lead. The film will see Rajinikanth playing a cop after two decades. There are reports that actor- filmmaker SJ Suryah has been roped in to play the villain but there is no clarification on it yet.

Chemban was last seen in the film Dakini, playing the villain. The film, directed by award-winning filmmaker Rahul Riji Nair, had four senior women in the lead, out to defeat the villain Mayan that Chemban plays. Upcoming films include Poinju Mariam Jose, which will make the comeback of director Joshiy after a gap, and Puzhikkadakan, directed by Lal Jose.
