The third witness in the Chandrabose murder case, Baby has described to the court how he himself escaped from Mohammed Nisham, who then went after Chandrabose and ran him over.

Baby, who was also a security guard at Sobha City, Puzhakkal, where Mohammed Nisham lived, told the Thissur District Sessions Court on Tuesday how Chandrabose was run over by a Hummer driven by the beedi tycoon.

Baby told the court, "Since the gate was closed Nisham came to me shouting and abusing. Then Chandrabose came along with Anoop asking ‘What happened sir?’ Nisham then started abusing and he slapped Anoop (first witness). Then, Chabdrabose ran to the cabin to escape from Nisham. But Nisham used my baton to break the glass and went inside to beat him while he (Chandrabose) begged him (Nisham) to leave him. But he somehow managed to escape and ran inside the complex.

“He (Nisham) also tried to assault me but I slipped away. Nisham went to take his gun by the time he saw Chandrabose run, Nisham followed him in his Hummer jeep and hit him,” he added.

On January 29, 2015, Nisham had allegedly run over Chandrabose with his luxury Hummer when the latter failed to open the gate promptly. Chandrabose died on February 16 in a private hospital after he was admitted with major injuries.

On October 26, the court had declared Anoop, the key witness in the case as hostile and had said that he had seen nothing the night Chandrabose was killed. However, the following day, Anoop told the court that he had been threatened, but added that his conscience would not allow him to lie to the court about how Chandrabose had died. It is unclear whether he is still a hostile witness.
