The CBI on Thursday named CPI (M) leader P Jayarajan as an accused and booked him under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act in RSS leader Elamthottathil Manoj’s murder.

The CBI submitted the charge sheet in Thalassery district sessions court in which Jayarajan was named as the 25th accused in the case.

Earlier on Tuesday, the district sessions court in Thalassery rejected the bail plea of the CPI (M) leader.

On January 12, the district sessions court in Thalassery had postponed the hearing on the bail application of CPI (M) leader P Jayarajan who the CBI believes has information on the murder of the RSS leader in 2015.

This is the third time that his bail has been rejected in connection with the Elamthottathil Manoj murder case.

The CBI informed the court that they would decide whether to make Jayarajan an accused in the case after questioning him.

CBI officials had asked him to come for questioning for the second time this year on Tuesday after he had ignored the first notice, citing personal reasons.

He has accused the BJP of carrying out a political vendetta against him in this case.

RSS leader Elamthottathil Manoj was murdered on September 1, 2014 at Ukkas Motta in East Kathiroor in Kannur district.

In 1999, Manoj had allegedly assaulted Jayarajan for political reasons. Because of this, the CBI believes that Manoj’s murder was an act of revenge.
