The News Minute | August 20, 2014 | 11.47 am ISTIn a sequence of events worthy of a good con artist film, Bunty aur Babli, if you want desi style, people in Bangalore have been divested of their jewellery.Their modus operandi was simple. How do you get someone to trust you with your jewellery? Pretend to be the police. In at least two separate cases in the city, the robbers pretended to be policemen and talked the women into parting with their jewellery.According to a report in Deccan Herald, two strangers approached 65-year-old Rajani in the Girinagar area of the city, and told her that she should keep her jewellery in a paper packet rather than wear it as she went about her work as she could get robbed.Dismissing their claims initially, she herself went up to them and gave her jewellery to be placed in a paper packet after she saw a man doing the same. However, when she later checked, it turned out her ornaments weren’t in the packet at all. All she found were stones. For more details, read Deccan Herald report.
