Even as a section of the tech analyst community would like to believe that some of the latest smartphones with advanced camera setups might challenge the DSLR cameras, digital imaging company Canon, has launched a high-end camera the EOS 6D Mark II DSLR in India.

The price for the basic model starts at Rs 1,32,995.

There might still be many enthusiasts and professionals who invest such amounts to own a piece of equipment that Canon would like to claim is capable of bringing a ‘sense of genius’ to photography.

The major features of this new camera are as follows: The EOS 6D Mark II DSLR sports a 26.2MP full-frame CMOS sensor and this device is the successor to the EOS 6D from Canon released earlier and remains quite popular even now.

The full-frame CMOS sensor in this series of cameras provides very clear images even in low-light and the sensor gets effective support from the Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology incorporated in it.

A 3-inch, ‘vari-angle’ touch-screen LCD monitor and the metering sensor that has a 7560 pixels rating (RGB+IR) and the AF technology referred to above, lend this new offering from Canon the extra impetus, users require, while taking pictures.

Ultimately, manufacturers of all these personal use devices aim at making the customer experience better, with every little improvement they can bring in. Canon believes it has done just that with the EOS 6D Mark II DSLR.

Aspects like extending the battery life have also been given consideration, with a battery grip being provided as an optional accessory, to hold two more of the LP-E6N batteries used in the camera.

Users interested in recording videos while shooting still images can make use of the ‘4K time-lapse’ movie function.

Transferring and sharing the images from the camera have also been made easier with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC connectivity features and posting pictures on social media like Facebook and Instagram will also pose no difficulties.

It also boils down to competition out there in the market and analysts feel the new EOS 6D Mark II DSLR will compare well with its Nikon counterpart.

Now, for the pricing of the camera in India: As mentioned, the bare device costs Rs 1,32,995. If you opt for the add on lenses, with the 24-70mm F4 lens, the camera will cost Rs 1,84,995 and if the 24-105mm F4 lens is chosen, then it goes up to Rs 2,02,995.
