Actor Bobby Simhaa hasn’t delivered a single noteworthy performance since his extremely well received role as Assault Sethu in Karthik Subbaraj’s Jigarthanda. In the film, he played a dreaded gangster and his role was lauded by critics and audiences alike.

Although he was part of projects such as Urumeen, Bangalore Naatkal and Ko 2, none of the projects worked in his favour. He considers upcoming thriller Thiruttu Payale 2 as a comeback of sorts and has pinned high hopes on the project, which is a sequel to 2006 thriller Thiruttu Payale.

Bobby plays a cop in Thiruttu Payale 2, and he is paired with Amala Paul. Talking at the audio launch of the film on Friday, he said that he is really kicked about the project. “I’m glad I’m part of this project. I’m a huge fan of the first part and I never thought I’d get an opportunity to work with director Susi Ganesan. This is a very important film in my career. I see it as a comeback,” he said. Bobby is paired with Amala in the film, which is due for release in September.

Talking about Bobby, director Susi Ganesan said that this film will give Bobby the right platform to shine. The first part of the franchise introduced actor Jeeva, who gained overnight popularity, and Susi believes that this film will take Bobby to the next level in his career. Actor Prasanna plays the antagonist in the film, which has music by Vidyasagar.
