Narendra Modi has been elected to power once again by the people of India and that too with a larger majority than 2014.
Of the projected 542/543 seats, BJP leads in 303 with the party’s NDA alliance together crossing the half way mark with a total of 342 seats. Congress’ UPA alliance trails with leads in just 95 seats, moderately better from its 2014 number which stood at 59.
Congratulations came pouring in for the BJP leader soon after the news of NDA’s clear majority.
Sri Lankan Prime Minister Rani Wikremesinghe was among the first to tweet his congratulations to Modi. “Congratulations to @narendramodi on a magnificent victory! We look forward to working closely with you,” he wrote.

Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah observed that the exit polls were right and appreciated Modi and Shah for “putting together a winning alliance & a very professional campaign”.
