Bengaluru teenage boy stabbed to death by fellow dancers for stepping on their foot

A wrong dance move during a street dance at a procession cost a 19-year-old his life on Sunday night.

Bangalore Mirror reported that the teenager identified as Venkatesh, a resident of Ejipura in Bengaluru​  was allegedly murdered in a row after he accidentally stepped over a fellow dancer’s legs. Venkatesh was a PUC dropout looking for a job

The incident happened at around 1:30 am near Battalamma temple at on Patalamma street in Adugodi area in the city, reported BM.

According to Times of India, 4 men who were allegedly inebriated were dancing next to Venkatesh and his friends. The altercation started after Venkatesh accidentally stepped on the foot of one of them. As the fight escalated, one of the men took out a knife and allegedly stabbed Venkatesh first on the thigh and then in the stomach. Even his friends were attacked when they came to help. Venkatesh died due to excessive bleeding.

BS Lokesh Kumar, DCP (south) was quoted by TOI saying, “We have booked a case of murder and registered an FIR. One person has been detained and we are trying to find the others.” Police have ruled out old rivalry as the motive. “Preliminary investigation doesn't point to the two groups knowing each other,”he said.
