The News Minute | January 16, 2015 | 9:45 am ISTThe Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) may soon be divided, by the end of January, if things work out according to plan. A meeting was held this week between Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao and his Telangana counterpart Rajiv Sharma to work out an amicable solution between both states. The RTC management received representations from the officers’ and employees’ unions of both AP and Telangana before the two Chief Secretaries met and arrived at a consensus. They decided that the assets and liabilities would be divided as per the recommendations of the Sheila Bhide Committee and division of employees would take place as per the modalities set by Kamalanathan Committee. The split which is due, after the state got bifurcated in June last year, is expected to create more employment opportunities to Telangana as the TSRTC which is a newly formed body, needs to get more vacant positions filled.
