After Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan lashed out at BJP National President Amit Shah for the statements made by the former in his speech in Kannur on Saturday, the politburo of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) released a statement on Sunday, condemning Amit Shah’s speech.

The statement said that Amit Shah challenged the Supreme Court order on the entry of women to the Sabarimala Temple in his speech, and in doing so, “he has exposed the real hand behind the violent protests against women’s entry into Sabarimala”.

The statement also said that it is such incitement that led to the “highly condemnable arson attack on the ashram of Swami Sandeepananda Giri.”

“I have come here to warn CM Vijayan that if you don't stop the oppression of Ayyappa devotees, BJP's workers will destroy your government and you will not be able to remain in power," Amit Shah said in his speech on Saturday.

Responding to this, the politburo said, “The threat of toppling the Kerala state government if it continues to uphold the SC judgement is another display of the anti-democratic, authoritarian attitude typical of Amit Shah.”

The statement also added that the politburo is confident that the people of Kerala will reject the regressive and disruptive politics of the BJP and the RSS.

“The CPI(M) will expose throughout the country the anti-women stand of the BJP and its upholding of the patriarchal upper caste order,” the statement read.

On Saturday, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan had reacted to Amit Shah’s statement of toppling the State Government by saying that, “BJP should not forget that the LDF Government did not come to power because of the mercy of the BJP but rather, we came to power because the people of the state elected us.
