In yet another horrendous crime, a three-month-old severed baby’s head was found atop a building in Uppal, Hyderabad on Thursday. The nature of the crime is similar to the gory murder that took place in Nalgonda just three days ago.

The incident took place in Chiluka Nagar, Uppal. The head of the baby, whose gender is yet to be identified was found on the roof of one Rajashekar’s house.

The head was spotted by Balalakshmi, Rajashekar’s mother-in-law.

Balalakshmi went to dry clothes at around 11 am and was shocked to see the severed head. She later called her family members and locals for help, said Uppal police.

Residents of the house have told police that they do not know whose baby it was and that the gates were locked. The family also said that they had no idea how someone could come and throw the head in their residence, police informed.

Dog squad and CLUES team (investigative wing) were engaged to collect evidences and retrieve the torso. However, the rest of the body couldn’t be retrieved.

Police have registered a case and sent the decapitated head for autopsy to Gandhi Hospital.

Speaking to TNM, Uppal Inspector P Venkateshwarulu said, “The gender of the baby couldn’t be identified yet. The residents of the house are claiming innocence. The investigation is underway.”

The shocking incident has given the locals the jitters. The incident bears striking resemblance to the murder of P Ramesh, a tractor driver who was killed in Nalgonda, though he was killed in Madina Colony, his severed head was kept at a road junction in Bottuguda, five kilometers away from the crime scene.

However, in this crime, police were immediately able to retrieve the torso and nab the killers within a day.

Hyderabad has witnessed three horrific crime incidents of late—a pregnant woman being chopped into pieces, family of three murdered by estranged husband and a 23-year-old woman murdered in Hayathnagar.

Police haven’t been able to identify the killers, who chopped the woman into pieces and dumped the body in a sack near Kondapur. Police appealed to doctors, mainly obstetricians and gynecologists, to inform them if any lady who was 5 feet 4 inches tall, medium built, about 30 years old had visited them for consultation. They have also announced Rs 1 lakh reward for those who have information about the murdered woman.

According to the autopsy report, the woman may have been beaten before she was killed, as she had a fractured pelvis and a ruptured uterus, besides broken ribs.
