An 18-year-old girl in Andhra's Muppavaram village in West Godavari district, was allegedly kidnapped and raped by four youths on Sunday, hours before she was due to get married.

The incident came to light after a complaint that was filed on Monday, following which the police arrested the accused on Tuesday.

The Times of India reported that the girl had gone to an open field to relieve herself on Sunday, when main accused, Malipudi Satyanarayana saw her and abducted her with his friends.

The accused then allegedly beat her up, and raped her more than once, according to the police.

The TOI report adds that the victim's father, Kasri Lavaraju, was also thrashed by some people who fled, when he went to look for his daughter and found her unconscious in a field.

The girl was shifted to the Rajahmundry Government General Hospital late in the night.

Local media reports add that the Samisrigudem police took Satyanarayana into custody, and charged him of rape.

The girl's marriage was also reportedly called off, after the incident.

This incident surfaced, even as the Chintapalle police arrested two more accused on Tuesday, in the gang-rape case of two minor tribal girls on May 20.

The girls were allegedly gang raped by eight men, when they went for a local fair at Tajangi village.

It was reported that one of girls was 13 years old, while the other was a 10-year-old.

It was also reported that village elders directed the accused to pay Rs 50,000 compensation to the two victims and 'settle' the matter, instead of filing a complaint.
