The Andhra Pradesh police on Saturday claimed to have caught the infamous 'needle attacker' on CCTV camera, in the state's West Godavari district.

For the past few weeks, one man on a bike, has been terrorizing women in Andhra Pradesh by pricking them with a needle before speeding away. At least 19 attacks have been reported so far.

The first case occurred on the evening of August 22 and the police have since announced rewards, released multiple witness sketches and tightened security in the district to nab the offender.

The police checked CCTV footage available in the areas of each attack, and looked for the common person with the same bike in each area, which helped them zero in on the suspect.

“We found that all three victims gave same description about the culprit and started examining the CCTV footage from the areas where incidents occurred,” a police officer told The New Indian Express.

They police suspect the accused to be from one of the towns in the district and are on the lookout to nab him. They also estimate that the individual is around 20-25 years old.

The police also checked footage from over 50 CCTV cameras belonging to various government and private establishments to zero in on the accused.

While the footage still isn't very clear, the police are confident that the man in the video is the 'needle attacker.'

"We believe that the man seems to be getting some perverted pleasure in pricking women with a needle," West Godavari district superintendent had earlier told TNM.

Multiple lab tests from a few needles recovered had also shown that the needle had no chemicals and did not even use a syringe.
