A man, who took a loan from a couple in Andhra Pradesh’s Ongole town, allegedly murdered them when they demanded their money back.

Srinivas Rao, a businessman, and Pramila Rani left their home on September 28. When they did not return till late in the night, their family members lodged a complaint with police. As the investigations progressed, the couple was found murdered on Wednesday. Their bodies were dumped near the Ongole bypass road.

Once the bodies were found, the police, who already had a list of suspects, arrested Reddy, a man who had reportedly borrowed Rs 15 lakh from the couple.

Addressing media persons on Wednesday, the police said that he had abducted the couple when they demanded their money back, and murdered them on the same day.

This is the second brutal killing in Prakasam district over the last two months.

In September, an auto driver brutally murdered a girl by slashing her throat in Vetapalem town.

The police said that the auto driver harassed the girl constantly, even though she turned down his proposal. Following this, he murdered her after developing a grudge.

In June this year, a couple was murdered at Jettipalem in Guntur district over a land dispute, according to the police.

The police said that the deceased man and his brother had filed cases against each other over the dispute, and the village elders had also tried to resolve the issue.

However, with either side refusing to budge, assailants attacked the couple with sickles, when they were sowing seeds in their field and fled.
